About Usha Rose Avallone

Usha has been practicing therapeutic bodywork since 2006 after completing a 1000-hour certification program from the Fingerlakes School of Massage in upstate NY. She has also done extensive training in Craniosacral Therapy, including Cranio-Sacral I through the Upledger Institute, private study integrating the biodynamic and biomechanic approaches of CST with advanced practitioner Ellen Mossman in Richmond, CA and 125 Hour Certification in CST at the McKinnon Institure in Oakland, CA.  She has also studied Subtle Hands on Skills and CST for Infants with Carol Gray in Portland, OR.

Usha is also certified in Reiki I and has studied several types of energy work including Reflexology, Polarity Therapy, Chakra Balancing and Crystal Therapy.

Usha brings over twelve years of experience in yoga to her practice as a bodyworker and as a yoga teacher. Yoga has been a passion since her first yoga class in 1999 and she has been exploring this ancient practice through self-study, travel, teacher trainings, workshops and classes. She studied Ashtanga for several years with Micheal Stein of Ashtanga of New Paltz in NY where she received a 200-hour teacher training certification in 2005. Most recently, in 2011, she completed a Continuing Education for Teachers Training with Anna Forrest in Oakland, CA.  Her teaching style incorporates teachings from traditions such as Ashtanga, Anusara, Forrest, Sivananda and Jivamukti. Usha had the joy of traveling to India in 2007 where she studied with several great teachers and deepened her personal practice.

Usha has also been practicing meditation for over ten years. She was first introduced to the chakras and kundalini energy when she began practicing Sahaja Yoga Meditation in 2000. She has since been initiated into Transcendental Meditation while in India and also practices Vippassana meditation since her first ten-day silent retreat in 2007.

"My practice as a body worker, cranio-sacral therapist and yoga teacher is built upon trust of our bodies’ innate inner wisdom and natural inclination towards healing.

I work intuitively and intelligently with each client to develop a unique and holistic healing session where you feel nurtured and supported along your healing journey, allowing you to enter into a safe and completely relaxed space where the bodies’ healing response is invited and awakened."
